The Homer Spit is 4.5 miles long by .5 mile wide, finding a parking spot can be difficult depending on time of year. The links to the maps above indicate where “pay to park” and “free parking” is located.
Parking Tip! – For meeting your water taxi there is a “Load & Unload” zone at the top of Ramp 2, you can drop off members of your party and/or any gear, then go find a parking spot.
If you are checking in for a tour, you can drop off other members of your party right in front of the office, then go find a parking spot.
Parking Tip! – Give us a call the night before and we can let you know the current parking situation.

The water taxi schedule is developed as reservations are made. Reservations for water taxis come in all year long for the summer months, if you know when you want to go to Kachemak Bay State Park, we recommend you make a reservation.

Grewingk Glacier Lake hike and most other destinations take about 30minutes, the longest water taxi ride in the park is about 1 hour long….but our water taxies stop when we sight a whale, which happily extends the time of any water taxi ride a little!

Bring layered clothing, both tops, and bottoms light weight rain gear and light weight hiking boots or tennis shoes.
Layered clothing consist of a Base layer: top & bottom long underwear, Middle layer: (insulating layer) a pair of water repellent/quick dry type hiking pants, a shirt, a mid to lightweight pile coat or hoody, Outer layer: (shell layer) a rain prof coat, and lightweight rain gear.
