Grewingk Glacier Lake Hike
Self-Guided
There are two ways to hike to Grewingk Glacier Lake – A “point-to-point” 5.3-mile hike that begins at Glacier Spit Trailhead returns along the same trail to the junction for the Saddle Trail, where you hike a moderate rise to the top of the Saddle Trail, down a set of well-designed switchbacks to the Saddle Trailhead to meet Alan’s Water Taxi back to Homer. Total hike is 5.3-miles. Allow 4 to 6 hours hiking time and bring a lunch to enjoy time at the lake.
A shorter “out and back” version of the Grewingk Glacier Lake Hike at the Saddle Trailhead with a set of well-designed switchbacks and a 250’ climb to the top of the saddle and a gradual descent through an old growth forest to the junction of the Grewingk Glacier Lake trail to the lake. Hike returns back to the Saddle Trail junction, over the saddle and down the switchbacks to the Saddle Trailhead to meet Alan’s Water Taxi back to Homer. Total hike is 4 miles. Allow 3 to 5 hours hiking time and bring a lunch to enjoy time at the lake.
