Land, Sea, & Ice

Sea Kayak, Kachemak Bay State Park, Hike to Grewgink Glacier Lake. A Stunningly Beautiful Day!

SEA KAYAKING
A short water taxi cruse from Homer, visit Gull Island seabird rookery, nesting puffins, kittiwakes and more. A nearby beach, you gear-up, receive instructions, and soon begin kayaking the coast. Sea otters & seals are common, sometimes porpoises, sea lions, and whales.

Paddle by the charming artist hamlet of Halibut Cove, Kayaking finishes at the tailhead.

GREWGINK GLACIER LAKE HIKE
A three-mile hike begins at the Saddle trailhead, a moderate hike to the top of the saddle. The remainder of the hike is easy, over glacial moraine opening to a lake dotted with ice bergs, the blue of Grewgink glacier beyond. Hiking back for your pick-up offers views of Halibut Cove & Kachemak Bay.
